We collect minimal personal data. Below is a complete list of personal data we process, the purpose, and the legal basis under GDPR Article 6:

Essential cookies (always active): Store your cookie consent preference in your browser's local storage. Required for basic site functionality. No personal data is sent to external servers.

Affiliate & marketing cookies (requires your consent): Set by affiliate partners (Amazon Associates, Awin, Impact) when you click an affiliate link. These cookies track that you were referred by SmartCentsLife so we can earn a commission. They are only activated after you give explicit consent via our cookie banner.

Third-party widgets (requires your consent): TradingView chart widgets on stock pages may set cookies and transfer data to TradingView's servers. These are only loaded after you give explicit consent.

4. Third-Party Data Processors

We use the following third-party services that may process your data on our behalf:

• Cloudflare Pages (USA) — Website hosting and CDN. Processes server requests including IP addresses. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
• Cloudflare Web Analytics (USA) — Privacy-friendly analytics. Does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, provides aggregated metrics only.
• Buttondown (USA) — Email newsletter service. Stores your email address if you subscribe. Sends confirmation emails (double opt-in). Buttondown Privacy Policy
• Google Fonts (USA) — Font delivery. Your browser connects to Google's servers to load fonts. Google may log request data. Google Privacy Policy
• Amazon Associates / Awin / Impact (USA) — Affiliate networks. Set tracking cookies only with your consent. Each has its own privacy policy governing cookie behavior.
• TradingView (USA) — Interactive chart widgets on stock pages. Loaded only with your consent. TradingView Privacy Policy
• Financial Modeling Prep (USA) — Stock data API. We fetch data server-side; no direct connection from your browser to FMP.

5. International Data Transfers

Several of our processors are located in the United States. When your data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place:

• Cloudflare, Buttondown, and Google operate under EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
• Affiliate cookie data is only transferred when you have given explicit consent.
• TradingView widget data is only transferred when you have given explicit consent.

By giving consent for non-essential cookies, you acknowledge that your data may be processed in the United States under these safeguards.

6. Email Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter via the forms on our site:

• Your email address is sent to Buttondown (our newsletter provider) and stored on their servers in the USA.
• You will receive a confirmation email (double opt-in) before being added to our mailing list.
• We send approximately one email per week with personal finance tips.
• You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email.
• After unsubscribing, your email is deleted from Buttondown within 30 days.
• We will never share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.

7. Affiliate Relationships

SmartCentsLife participates in affiliate marketing programs (Amazon Associates, Awin, Impact, and others). We may earn commissions on purchases made through affiliate links on our site, at no additional cost to you. These relationships do not influence our editorial content. Our site contains links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

9. Children's Privacy

SmartCentsLife is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover such data has been collected, we will delete it immediately.
